What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is a general term for the engineering of materials on an atomic or molecular scale. The size of atoms and molecules is in the range of about 0.1 until 10 nanometer (and more), hence the popular term 'nano'.

What is molecular nanotechnology?

Molecular nanotechnology (MNT) is sometimes also called advanced nanotechnology. Advanced because the ultimate goal of MNT is to have total positional control at the molecular level in the construction of products.

What are nanoparts?

A large (macroscale) mechanical system or machine is a construction consisting of smaller parts like gears, bearings, rollers, belts, cams, struts, beams,... Nanoparts are parts with an equivalent functionality but with a different size, namely with dimensions in the nanometer range. Some examples can be found here.
